World History Blog on Hiatus Until 9 April 2007

I will be travelling extensively over the next few weeks. Some of the travel will be fun, some will not. My Web access is likely to be spotty. Taking this into account, I have decided to put this blog on the shelf for a few weeks.

Unless something bad happens to me, I will be back. I anticipate I will make my next post on April 9th, 2007. I am predicting I will make my 1000th post sometime in May.

At Wikipedia, there is a concept called a Wikibreak. It is when an editor decides they need a break from Wikipedia and they leave for a short period of time. Usually, the editor returns refreshed and recharged and he is better for having down it. I am now on a short blogbreak. I hope it helps to make this blog better in the future.

I was wondering if I may send a review copy of our new book, English History made Brief, Irreverent, and Pleasurable by historian Lacey Baldwin Smith, Professor Emeritus of History at Northwestern University. In the spirit of the popular 1066 and All That, the book spans the majority of Great Britain’s rich history, providing a lighthearted account of the countries most informative moments. Attached is a press release and please take a look at his interview with the San Diego Reader at

If interested, please provide an address for correspondence.

Kindest regards,
