Put a fork in him, the John Titor story has now been proven to be a hoax. Almost two years ago, I posted John Titor, Fake Time Traveller. That post now has 26 comments on it and I had to reject dozens of others who continued to irrationally claim that political disagreements between Republicans and Democrats in the USA proved that a civil war was occurring in America right now. In frustration, I finally turned the comments off on that post.
The story is now over. Wikipedia notes in a section about Titor's failed predictions, "A particularly obvious example involves the Olympics, which Titor claimed 'As a result of the many conflicts, no, there were no official Olympics after 2004.' The uneventful staging of the 2006 Winter Olympics refutes this claim; however, there are arguments as to whether or not Titor was referring exclusively to the Summer Olympics. To those accepting this caveat, it is the successful or unsuccessful realization of the 2008 Summer Olympics that will ultimately determine the accuracy of this claim."
Well, official events have already been held at the 2008 Summer Olympics already. Several Women's Soccer (football) matches were held today. I regret to report that the American women lost to Norway 2-0. Regardless what happens now, official events in the Olympic Games have begun. Titor was wrong and is hence a fraud.
Of course, Titor supporters still have a cope out. As I wrote in 2006, "I guess his proponents can claim that John Titor was not a fraud and that he must have visited the past from a different alternate timeline. However, as I am only interested in the timeline I am living in, I am going to dismiss Titor."
The fork is in the turkey. The John Titor story is a fraud.

What the hell... This guy was/is considered legit by more than a couple random wackjobs? I certainly hadn't heard of him until now, but it seems a bit much that there is a need for people to point out that he has been proven wrong in his predictions made as a time traveler from 2036. I mean, come on...
"My goal is not to be believed." - John Titor
He was right about that one.
Just because the 2008 Olympics were successful, this does not mean John Titor is a fake.
What people don't understand is John Titors explanation of his time machine is incredibly accurate. In other words we live in infinite parallel worlds with infinite outcomes.
Also, people also don't believe that time travellers can lie and spread disinformation for their purposes.
The fact that the olympics in 2008 were successful, just may mean John Titor was successful in his mission, and we won't have the terrible outcomes like WWW3.
Right now WWW3 is still possible, just look at the situation with Russia and America right now.
Let's just pray the timeline has diverged enough and we are not on the similar timeline as john titor was on. That really is a truly awful future.
"In other words we live in infinite parallel worlds with infinite outcomes."
In other words, no matter wrong Titor is proven to be by reality, his proponents have a really big cope out.
I like the part in Titor's story where he claims to have noticed "little differences, such as sports games won by different teams, ect." So I guess he had the Sports Almanac from 2015. I thought Marty McFly burt that after he stole it back from Biff in Back to the Future II..
you cannot disprove titor unsless you disprove the Graham-Everett-Wheeler theory.
The burden of proof is on Titor proponents. I don't have to disprove him. After all, supporters claim that all his predictions can be wrong and he is still real as he just came "from another timeline." He can not be falsified. However, if he was real, he could be proven. Until then, this was just a very well done hoax.
OK...so if the fact that hte Olympics were held shows that Titor is just from a different universe..then why are we talking about him? We are obviously not IN his universe. Hence, none of his predictions will come true. Or, are you morons suggesting that every other part of his universe will also happen in ours EXCEPT for the Olympics being cancelled (as well as the many others predictions that were obviously wrong.)
We don't live in infinite parallel worlds. We live in one world. Infinite parallel worlds is a mishap of mathematics. A confused bottom-up perspective.
This guy is fascinating though - especially that people believe him. I will have to check out his blog!
No doubt he is a fake, but still interesting.
